Fact File: Chiringuitos Typically Spanish, a chiringuito is a small beach bar. They are found up and down the Spanish Coast with literally hundreds to be found on the various Costas. In the good old days the chiringuitos were often constructed from old pallets and anything that came to hand. The kitchens were open to the elements and they sometimes blew down in the first winter storms. They are an integral part of Spanish beach culture. Now the chiringuitos are more like restaurants. They often provide seating, sun beds, and umbrellas that provide a well needed escape from the heat of the mid day sun. There are different types of chiringuitos, from quiet relaxed bars aimed at families in the daytime, to those with DJ´s for great for late night parties!! |
