DENIA IS ONE OF THE LARGER TOWNS ON THE NORTHERN COSTA BLANCA AND WAS A MAJOR PORT AND SHIPYARD IN THE 18 TH CENTURY. IT HAS A RICH HISTORY WITH SOME PARTS OF THE TOWN STILL RETAINING THEIR ARABIC INFLUENCE.
DENIA IS A 40 MINUTE DRIVE NORTH FROM BENIDORM AND HAS A VERY INTERNATIONAL FEEL WITH MANY FOREIGNERS LIVING THERE. IT STILL HOWEVER RETAINS A VERY SPANISH CHARM. IT IS A GREAT PLACE FOR SHOPPING, OR DINING OUT IN ITS MANY SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS
IT´S MOST PROMINENT FEATURE IS ITS CASTLE WHICH SITS UP HIGH OVERLOOKING THE TOWN. THE CASTLE WAS BUILT DURING THE MUSLIM OCUPATION OF SPAIN AND HAS BEEN ADDED TO OVER THE YEARS.
